Insights Rights

System rights in MasterControl Insights include View [Module] Insights and Author [Module] Insights. View Insights rights allow users to view dashboards and reports. Author Insights rights determine access to Visualizer and configuration control of dashboards along with other customization functionality.

Note: While the View Insights and Author Insights rights provide users access to the Insights product itself, the ability to view the module-specific MasterControl data displayed in Insights dashboards is controlled by Vault rights. If users are not assigned the applicable Vault rights, they will not be able to view data in Insights.

All MasterControl users are eligible to be assigned View Insights rights by a sysadmin. Users in roles that have been assigned the View Insights rights can perform the following actions:

  • View and filter standard dashboards and reports;
  • Configure saved searches;
  • Use Explore in Visualizer (though without the ability to save).

If your company has Premium Insights, Author Insights rights are available for your sysadmin to assign to the appropriate roles.

If you are in a role that has the Author Insights right, you can perform the following actions:

  • Create, edit, and delete any dashboards, visualizations, and reports for the applicable modules;

  • Edit any collections and dashboards for the applicable modules.

    • Example: If you are in a role that is assigned the Author Training Insights right and you are assigned the applicable Vault rights for the Training module, you can edit dashboards in the Training collections in Insights.
